We absolutely love Halloween in our house! For me, Halloween starts in September. So as soon as possible, I get my husband to pull down all those bins. And I am spending an entire weekend (or more) putting everything out.
In the past, we’ve done a more spooky set up…witches, Ouija boards, and skeletons. But since starting our family, I’ve decided to do a more cute and fun Halloween display.
To keep things simple, I only decorate our downstairs living space and guest bathroom. Here are some of my displays!
In the dining room, I have this ladder shelf that I decorate for every holiday! For Halloween, I went with this cute witch theme. Most things I got from Home Goods.
Also in the dining room is our table. I put out these cute pumpkin place mats and DIY-ed a little centerpiece with candle sticks and mini pumpkins. I just cut a hole on the bottom of the pumpkin and the candle stick fit right inside!
In our living room, I went with this friendly ghost theme. Again, most things came from Home Goods. The standing ghosts were an Aldi find…and they light up!
Our mantle isn’t very deep, so not much can fit on it. I used these fake candles and mini pumpkins to decorate! Also, tucked in the back in a cinnamon broom…it makes the whole house smell so yummy!
In the kitchen I went with a candy corn theme! Definitely have to get more things, but it’s a start!
Right off the kitchen, is this little area that I don’t know what to do with quite yet. But I like it so far!
Lastly, the newest addition to our house is our DIY mug cubbies! We loved building these and filling in all our Halloween mugs!
Here are a few tips for decorating your house for the holidays!
- Find a theme or themes you like and stick to them!
- Take pictures of what you already have so when you’re shopping you can see what matches.
- If you have multiple themes, use different spaces to differentiate the themes.
- Shop at stores that organize their decor by theme, this makes it easier to shop!
- Pick things that make you happy!
- Use museum wax to keep everything in place! – especially if you have pets or kids.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN AND HAPPY DECORATING!
